On final approach to runway 27L, the aircraft lost thrust on both its Rolls Royce RB211 Trent 895-17 engines and the pilots were unable to regain thrust. The aircraft crashed down 330m before the runway threshold and the right main gear separated, the left got pushed through the wing and the nose-gear collapsed. Of the 136 passengers and 16 crew, everybody survived the accident with one serious injury and several minor ones. A true miracle! In this video, I will cover the causes behind this accident and what we can learn from it.
